The Valipac Story

Valipac was created in 1997 by the Belgian industry to provide a collective response to the extended producer responsibility for commercial and industrial packaging. As the first European organization dedicated specifically to commercial and industrial packaging, Valipac plays a pivotal role in helping its clients meet the required recycling rates for the packaging they use to sell goods on the Belgian market.

Challenge

Valipac embarked on a transformative journey with VaultSpeed to overcome two pressing challenges: gaining greater autonomy over its data management and its data use, as well as becoming more agile when dealing with changes in their operational systems. Despite having successfully benefited from an outsourced datawarehouse-as-a-service model for many years, Valipac wanted to increase its ability to scale and adapt quickly to changes in legislation and changes in the needs of its stakeholders. The need for a centralized and controlled data infrastructure became even more urgent as significant changes to their core systems loomed.

Valipac managed 25 years of historical data through an outsourced data warehouse-as-a-service model, which supported their operations effectively. However, as data demands grew and their operational systems evolved, they saw an opportunity to improve efficiency and scalability. Enhancing their data infrastructure would allow them to move beyond incremental updates, optimize costs, and reduce dependency on external services and individual developers. By shifting to a unified, scalable framework, Valipac aimed to unlock the full potential of their data, enabling greater agility, improved governance, and more impactful insights to support their growth.

The stakes were high: Valipac needed to not only migrate their data warehouse but also establish a resilient, future-ready platform that could scale seamlessly with their evolving needs. It was clear that they required a solution that would streamline processes, and deliver a strong foundation for collaboration and governance.

Solution

With VaultSpeed, Valipac successfully rebuilt 25 years of legacy data warehouse history in just eight months—an achievement that far exceeded their initial expectations. This rapid reconstruction not only restored their critical data capabilities ahead of schedule but also set the stage for future growth and scalability. By generating high-quality, consistent data models directly from metadata, VaultSpeed eliminated the need for resource-intensive manual processes, dramatically reducing costs compared to incremental updates under their previous outsourced model. The unified, scalable data framework provided Valipac with the flexibility to adapt quickly to changing business needs while minimizing reliance on individual developers and external services. This newfound control empowered Valipac to sustain efficiency, improve collaboration, and ensure consistent data governance across the organization—all while laying a solid foundation for long-term innovation.
